Plain, tri-dimensional texture and two edges in a lightly colour · Technique. Hand woven on a loom. · Technique details. A high quality hand carded wool is selected and then spun using a special technique so that the wool to be wrapped around a jute core measuring 3 mm. in diameter. This process means that the weave's main structure is enclosed within the carpet rather than on its bottom. Thin yet strong jute threads are stretched vertically along the warp and are then woven together horizontally by the thick wool yarns. The weaving is performed by hand using large wooden spools for a typical Pecan "weave". When the jute and wool weave yarns end, they are fixed to the warp yarns and another distaff is then used. This is the reason why threads may appear on the surface of the carpet. Composition of the carpet surface: 100% wool. Overall composition (structure and surface): 40% jute, 60% wool. Border: The border is made out of a 4 cm wide wool and jute fabric sewn onto the two short ends of the carpet. The edges are made using a designed fabric that has a canvas structure that alternates the rug’s same thread colour and contrasting thread. · Overall thickness. Approx. 12 mm.
